Esteemed friends of Radio Havana Cuba:

You may request the 2011 pocket calendar already.  It was edited in Spain by the Association of International Culture and Cooperation, and it'll be presented in a public ceremony in Havana, this October 13^th.

On this occasion, the calendar depicts the first portray of our leader, Fidel Castro, drawn by late Ecuadoran painter Oswaldo Guayasamín, in the evening of May 6^th, 1961 at the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples. Cuban artist Agustin Bejarano, has recreated the original portray of Fidel.

The calendar highlights two dates: May 6^th, which marks half a century since the portray was made; and August 13^th, when Fidel will celebrate its 85^th birthday.

Throughout his fruitful life, "The Painter of Iberoamérica", as Oswaldo Guayasamín is known, made four portrays of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
