Radio Havana, Cuba, Calendar 2011

Msg from Radio Havana, Cuba

Esteemed friends of Radio Havana Cuba:

You may request the 2011 pocket calendar already.  It was edited in Spain by the Association of International Culture and Cooperation, and it'll be presented in a public ceremony in Havana, this October 13th.

On this occasion, the calendar depicts the first portray of our leader, Fidel Castro, drawn by late Ecuadoran painter Oswaldo Guayasamín, in the evening of May 6th, 1961 at the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples. Cuban artist Agustin Bejarano, has recreated the original portray of Fidel.

The calendar highlights two dates: May 6th, which marks half a century since the portray was made; and August 13th, when Fidel will celebrate its 85th birthday.

Throughout his fruitful life, "The Painter of Iberoamérica", as Oswaldo Guayasamín is known, made four portrays of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.

In order to request this free small work of art, our listeners and friends must write to Radio Havana  Cuba, P. O. Box 6240, Havana, Cuba; or electronically through radiohc@enet.cu  or cip244@cip.enet.cu And please, don't forget indicate your full name and address clearly.
